How does a father’s migration status influence school choice and achievement of their children?
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (EDT)
Presenters: Dirgha Ghimire
Description
This webinar will explore findings related to the extent to which a father’s migration abroad influences the school choice and achievement of their children. We use detailed data from Nepal, a country facing a student “learning crisis” along with pervasive inequalities by gender, ethnicity, and public/private schools and high rates of international labor out-migration. Using students’ assessment data, we investigate the difference in student’s achievement between public and private school students, and also estimate the association between father’s international out-migration status and children’s enrollment in private school. There will be a Q&A session after the presentation.
